Common print and frame sizes

Frames are listed by the size of the picture they hold. These standard sizes, in inches, are a quick reference when planning a wall.

  • 4 × 6 inSnapshots, desks and shelves
  • 5 × 7 inBedside tables and small groupings
  • 8 × 10 inPortraits and gallery walls
  • 11 × 14 inA focal piece in a grouping
  • 16 × 20 inHallways and above a console
  • 18 × 24 inPosters and art prints

Measure the picture, not the frame

Check the picture size or mat opening listed on the product page against your photo or print before you order.

Try the layout on paper

Cut paper templates to each frame’s outside dimensions and tape them to the wall to test a layout before making any holes.

Match hardware to weight

Use hooks or anchors rated for the weight of the piece and suited to your wall, and two hanging points for wide frames.
